
An exciting event is planned for September 2011 in Minneapolis to honor all of Minnesota’s branches of the Armed Forces and Veterans, Firefighters, Law Enforcement and Emergency Services. The event is sponsored by New Hope Community Services of America, Inc., www.nhcsa-mn.org.
The 2011 Festival of Tribute & Honor will take place over three days, Friday, September 16th to Sunday, September 18th. Friday will start out with Opening Ceremonies in the State Capitol Rotunda from 11 am - 1 pm to “Honor Our Fallen Heroes”. This will be followed by a pre-game show at the Twins game at Target Field that evening.
Saturday, September 17th at 11 am will be the “Parade of Tribute & Honor” in downtown Minneapolis on the Nicollet Mall between 13th Street and 5th Street. The parade will feature the 34th Infantry Division Army “Red Bull” Band, US Army Reserve Band, a Joint Armed Forces Honor Guard, Minneapolis and St. Paul Police Marching Bands, the Emerald Society & Minnesota Police Pipes and Drums, 20 marching bands, fire trucks, emergency vehicles, Minnesota and New Ulm Civil War Artillery and Battery Regiments, 40 Zurah & Osman MN Shriner Parade Units and numerous units of each of the military and emergency services. That evening, September 17th from 6 pm – 9:30 pm will be a private concert for members of the participating organizations; this is not open to the public. The “Concert of Honor” will feature “Legends in Concert” Las Vegas performers, the 34th Infantry Division Army “Red Bull” Band, and the Totino Grace “2010 National Champion” Show Choir. Sunday, September 18th from noon – 1pm concludes the event with a Remembrance Service at the Capitol Mall, “Honoring America’s POW/MIA’s”. Join us in honoring our fallen and tie “Yellow Ribbons” around lawn trees and street poles and ask neighbors to join as well, a further tribute to our stellar performers and fallen heroes. Also, fly your American Flag at half-staff from Friday morning, September 16th to dawn, Monday, September 19th, 2011.
The Saturday “Parade of Tribute & Honor” and “Concert of Honor” will be the highlights of the event and Firefighters, Law Enforcement, Emergency Services, all branches of the Armed Forces and Veterans and their families are encouraged to attend. Keep the date open for September 16-18, 2011 and plan to participate or attend one of the events at the Festival of Tribute & Honor.
